You are invited to join us to watch The Marathon Monks of Mt. Hiei on Saturday November 1.Sunday Nov. 2nd is the NY Marathon and I thought it would be great to see how these monks train to walk a marathon ever day for 1,000 days. If they can complete this and the ceremonies at the end of the walking they are considered living Buddha's.
What better way to celebrate the NY Marathon weekend?
The author of the book that the film is based on was written by my friend and aikido teacher John Stevens. It will be great to share his experience of writing the book and I will have photo's of calligraphy done by two of the monks who have completed the training.
I think it will be an interesting evening inviting some good discussion and fun.
