Our Prayer for the Heart of Humanity

We call upon God’s Love in this important moment, knowing that
Divine Love is the greatest power in the Universe.
We pray for the wounded heart of humanity
as we grieve, rage, cry, and despair over injustice and inequity.
May Divine Love enfold and comfort everyone who is hurting.
May Divine Wisdom guide each person and institution
in taking inspired action to ensure that all are celebrated
for their inherent goodness as a part of God’s creation.
May we remain resolute in walking the course of
human rights and social justice for all.
We pray in the spirit of unity, love, and oneness.
 Amen.

The Broom Prayer...Ready for some Spring Cleaning?

The swift and powerful action and activity of the Holy Spirit
sweeps through my consciousness,
sweeping away all thoughts, behaviors, beliefs, ideas and people
that are not serving my greater good.

And

The swift and powerful action and activity of the Holy Spirit
moves through the universe
drawing into my world
the thoughts, behaviors, beliefs, ideas, people and experiences
that will bless and prosper my life.

Amen and So It Is!

Myrtle's Wisdom #1

We are exploring the wisdom of Myrtle Fillmore at our Sunday gatherings.
here are a few ideas from her letters for you to consider.

HEALTH –
“Any thought that is not based on the eternal reality, Truth, really has no existence at all. So if we believe in disease, we are believing in something that has no substance or reality.”

PRAYER –
“Prayer … is to change mind and heart so that God's omnipresent good may fill our mind and heart and manifest in our life.”

PROSPERITY –
“When you develop your soul and express its talents and capabilities in loving service to God and mankind, all your temporal needs will be supplied in bountiful measure.”

The Broom Prayer

The “Broom Prayer”

The swift and powerful action of the Holy Spirit
Now removes from (place, circumstance or situation)
Any person or activity that is not in accordance
With the Jesus Christ Principles
Of Love and Truth
The swift and powerful action of the Holy Spirit
Now brings into (place, circumstance or situation)
All people and actions that are in accordance
With the Jesus Christ Principles
Of Love and Truth

This is an old Unity prayer which is perfect for many situations and the season of lent when we release whatever keeps us from realizing our Christ consciousness.

Writing a letter to God, Myrtle Fillmore

Sometimes I have written a letter to God when I have wanted to be sure that something would have divine consideration and love and attention. I have written the letter, and laid it away, in the assurance that the eyes of the loving and all-wise Father were seeing my letter and knowing my heart and working to find ways to bless me and help me to grow.

So I suggest that you write a letter to God, putting into words that which your heart holds and hopes for. Have faith that God is seeing your letter and your heart, and that there is wisdom and power and freedom and love to accomplish that which will meet your needs. After you have placed your heart’s desires in God, don’t be anxious or worried or negative.

Don’t look for signs that He has responded. Busy yourself with the work God gives and with study and prayer develop into a real companion and a real radiator of happiness and inspiration. As you do so you become the radiating center toward which those are drawn who will add to your happiness and cooperate with you in making your life a beautiful success. Spirit intends you to be a radiating center that will draw to you whatever you need to be well and strong, successful and prosperous.

The Church That I Love Best

The church that I love best is small,
It is no grand pretentious hall
set round with works of holy art
It is the chamber of my heart.

Where else but in this secret place
May I catch glimpses of Truth's face,
And even catch, however dim,
A sense of being one with Him?

I have no church until I find
Holiness in my own mind;
Once found, wherever I may be,
Becomes the house of God for me.

Pray Yourself Well....Teachings from Myrtle Fillmore.

Does the idea of praying yourself well seem impossible? Myrtle Fillmore, cofounder of Unity, knew she could heal herself—and she did. Her intense healing experience has been an inspiration to people around the world and is the cornerstone of how Unity began more than 100 years ago.
Myrtle was sickly as a child and a young adult suffering from tuberculosis. After attending a New Thought lecture in 1886, Myrtle came away with one statement that changed her life: I am a child of God, and therefore I do not inherit sickness.

The Story of Unity [1] states, “In one hour Myrtle Fillmore's whole outlook toward herself and her life had been changed. Like a revelation … this simple and divine idea that she was a beloved child of God, that God's will for her could only be perfect life and wholeness, filled her mind and possessed her being. The old belief that she was an invalid, that she had been born to be an invalid, was as waters that have passed away.”

So then, how do you pray yourself well?
Myrtle Fillmore believed that anyone can follow the principles of Truth and be healed. It requires more than simple prayer, however. Her teachings on healing indicate that one must engage in regular spiritual practices that encompass mind, body, and soul.

The following excerpts from the book Healing Letters [2] shed light on only a few of the spiritual ideas Myrtle taught about healing. Practiced in unison, these concepts build a foundation for physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Lessons From Myrtle

Unite All Areas of Your Life
Myrtle believed there are three realms that must be addressed for healing to occur. “Daily, declare that your spiritual life and world, your mental life and world and your physical life and world are unified and that you are expressing harmoniously the ideas of the Christ Mind on these three planes.” ............... Pure Rest in the Soul

When consciousness is freed of erroneous beliefs and concept, then we’re prepared to commune with God, to rest in the Soul, and to be at peace. There is really nothing that can disturb an individual who neither hates, fears, nor loves the objects of sense. Where there is no attempt at any time or in any way to gain something from God and when we are free of judgments, prayer is a resting in the Soul, a state of receptivity. It is that and more, because it brings peace and a sense of satisfaction in pure being. There, not even expectancy arises. There is only the satisfaction and the sense of completeness in God which is the ultimate of prayer. There is nothing to be desired, nothing to be attained, not even protection, safety or security. There is then and forever a sense of perfection attained, of pure rest in the Soul.

Affirmative Prayer #3—The Silent Unity Method of Prayer

In the third video of this series, Unity minister Lynne Brown explains the process of affirmative prayer, a traditional way of praying in Silent Unity. Learn how you can easily incorporate it into your own spiritual practice.

Unity's 5-Step Prayer Process

The following is an explanation of the five step prayer process taught by Silent Unity.

Prayer is connecting with God. In prayer, you create a sacred space in which you commune with God. Use the following Five-Step Prayer Process to deepen your connection with God, to heighten your awareness of God within you. Experience the power of prayer.

First, Relax.
Set aside time each day for prayer. Begin your quiet time by relaxing your body and opening your mind to an awareness of God. Breathe deeply, knowing that you are in the presence of God and the presence of God is within you. Let go of your concerns and know that all is well.

Next, Concentrate.
As you close your eyes and release any thought of the world around you, begin to think about God, and about God's presence in your life. Focus your mind on a single thought or idea or scripture that resonates with you. Repeat this idea over and over, either silently or aloud until it becomes your only thought.

After relaxing and concentrating, Meditate.
Allow this focused state of mind to move you into a deeper awareness of God. “Be still, and know that I am God.” Be still as you connect with this divine presence within you.

Then, Realize.
From the depth of your being, know that you are one with God. This knowing, this realization as you experience God's holy presence is “silent soul communion.” In this receptive state of mind and heart, listen for the inspiration of God, the answers to your prayers.

Finally, Give Thanks.
Let gratitude be your heart's joyous response to this experience of communion with God and with God's infinite goodness. Give thanks for blessings to come, ready to receive your good.

Relax, Concentrate, Meditate, Realize, and Give Thanks. Repeat as needed!

A companion prayer to this process:

God, Your presence calms me,
quiets the storms around me, and
leads me to a place of perfect peace.
As I center myself
in Your peaceful presence,
I let go of every concern and
relax in the safety of Your love.

Prayer is...

Prayer is not something we do

 to God but to ourselves.

It is not a position but a disposition.

It is not flattery but a sense of oneness.

It is not asking but knowing.

It is not words but feeling.

It is not will but willingness."
