Help for Haiti

Help Haiti, a message from Rich Stearns to the church from World Vision Video Dept. on Vimeo.

We are partnering with World Vision to support relief efforts in Haiti. World Vision has over 300 staff members in Haiti already and they are supplying first aid kits along with blankets, clothes water & soap. At the present time it appears first aid is a priority and they have the capacity to feed hundreds of thousands but currently are constrained by lack of access.

This past summer they sent a shipping container of emergency supplies in anticipation of the hurricane season. This shipment alone can help more than 1,500 families with kitchen sets, hygiene kits, water containers, and water purification tablets.

Please join us in doing what we can for the people of Haiti. Click here to go directly to world vision’s website to make a contribution. Let them know that the members and friends of Unity Long Island support their efforts. www.worldvision.org

I know you are holding them in your prayers. Thank you for your support.

Living in a Dream

“Human life is mostly a dream. In our dreams we look without seeing, we listen without hearing, we taste and touch without tasting or touching, we speak without saying anything, we walk without moving. The mind invents realities that are entirely imaginary.” Philo of Alexandria (50 BCE-20 CE)

Living!

Those who face that which is actually before them,
unburdened by the past, undistracted by the future,
are those who truly live, who make the best use of their lives.

A New You, For A New Year!

Hi Friends:

It's hard to believe the first week of 2010 is almost over. Are you ready to co-create this year of your life?

This Sunday our topic will be A New You, For A New Year.
What will it take for you to really change this year and have the life you want?

Did you know that your body is being renewed constantly? In one year, 98 percent of the atoms in your body will be replaced by other atoms. So why not renew your life?
"Behold I make all things new!"

I look forward to seeing you Sunday, as we co create 2010.

In Unity,

John

The Twelfth Day of Christmas, Life

The Twelfth Day of Christmas

I give thanks for life

Christ is the perfect life in me. Although there may be times in the future when I am not expressing my highest self, never will I forget my true Source—my true strength—my divinity.

The Christ within is ever enlightening me with spiritual awareness.

I give thanks for life—good, free, joyous, growing and eternal!

The Eleventh Day of Christmas, Releasing

This is my day for releasing

I let go all that would attempt to stop my spiritual growth.

Just as weeds can choke out a tender seedling, negative thoughts, words and feelings can suppress our expression of the Christ spirit within.

From this time on, I will be consciously aware of the need to nourish the divine spirit within me. I gladly release the false, the selfish, the negative and the spiritually crippling.

I embrace beauty and goodness everywhere.

The Tenth Day of Christmas, Zeal

I am filled with zeal!

The energy of divinity is radiating through me this day, and I give thanks for it.

Energy flows though me and helps me accomplish all that is mine to do.

I am zealous as I greet my neighbors. I am zealous in my work. I am zealous in my time of prayer.

The zeal of the Christ brings forth miracles, for it is pure Spirit activity at work.

The Ninth Day of Christmas, Order

I grow in awareness of divine order.

God's universe operates on law and order. I slow down my spiritual growth and development if I do not establish order in myself and my world.

It is necessary to plan a time for my spiritual needs as well as for my physical ones. It is important to practices what comes to me in times of meditation and prayer. I will endeavor to do my spiritual exercises as regularly as I do physical exercises. Through Christ I learn to wait patiently for the right thing and the right time. I learn to put my thoughts in the proper order. I live one day at a time. Through Christ I see that order is the first law of my world.

The Eighth Day of Christmas, Will

I merge my will with God's.

The growing Christ within my being assures me that God's will for me is always good.

It was the Christ of Jesus that declared,

“My Father … your will be done.”

Now it is the Christ in me that gathers all that concerns me, all my hopes and dreams, all my seeming problems, and releases them to God.

I release all desires, fears and seeming limitations so that I am free to pray: Father, Your perfect will for my highest good be done.

The Seventh Day of Christmas-Understanding

I grow in understanding.

The Christ in me understands that which I alone can never understand. The Christ sees past all outer coverings—the facial masks of hostility, fear and anger. The Christ sees past what may appear to be unjust and knows that there is absolute justice in divine law. The Christ knows beyond reason. And through the Christ in me, I know, I believe, I rejoice, I understand.
